War: We’ll not give you weapons, soldiers to fight Russia – Hungary warns Ukraine

Hungary has issued a stern warning to Ukraine, telling President Volodymyr Zelensky that it does not take instructions from him.

Hungary Prime Minister, Viktor Orbán, through Zoltan Kovacs, his international spokesperson, told CNN his country will not supply weapons to support Ukraine in the war with Russia.

“The Hungarian standpoint is firm … we are not going to mingle in this war by means of weapons and by supplying soldiers,” said Kovacs on Friday.

Zelensky had last month criticized Orbán, telling Hungary to “decide for yourself who you are with.”

And after recording a massive victory last Sunday, Prime Minister Orbán hit out at Zelensky, saying his campaign “had to fight against a huge amount of opponents,” including the Ukrainian President.

However, Kovacs told CNN that his country was open to supporting Ukraine with humanitarian aid, but added that Prime Minister Orbán has rejected Zelensky’s “message.”

“As a sovereign state, don’t message us,” Kovacs continued.

“We know what to do. We do everything at our disposal, but it’s not going to be by what you are trying to tell us to do,” he stated.

Ukrainian Prime Ministry’s spokesperson, Oleg Nikolenko, had earlier described as “cynical” Hungary’s peace summit proposal in its capital, Budapest.
